USPS delivery issues often plague online sellers, presenting a frustrating challenge. Here are a few tips to fight back against this dreadful problem.
Over the last few weeks, I have experienced an uptick in Item Not Received claims on eBay, after doing some digging, I have noticed an alarming trend. Packages are not receiving acceptance scans, despite daily pickups at my place of business. What’s baffling is the first tracking scan takes place at the buyer’s Post Office, and then the item is out for delivery, leaving a trail of missing scans along the way.

I have my fair share of USPS delivery issues, but as a small business owner, it’s my responsibility to make adjustments, when issues arise, even when it’s not our fault.
Listed below are a few things you can do to maintain your top-rated seller status and avoid falling below standard as one of my favorite eBay sellers did.
1-Change your handling time to two days, but still ship the same day or within 24 hours. I know this can be a discouraging solution particularly if you’re trying to attain or uphold a Top Rated Seller status.
2-Instead of simply dropping off packages at the Post Office counter and leaving, consider waiting in line to request that the clerk scan them in for you. While this may require extra time, integrating this practice into your business reflects a dedication to quality service. It’s worth noting that some Post Offices may limit the number of items scanned items to six or fewer. In such cases, utilize eBay’s bulk shipping tool to consolidate items under a single tracking number when dropping them off.
3- Establish a personal rapport with your carrier by communicating the importance of consistent tracking scans as an eBay seller. This approach has proven effective for me, with significant issues typically arising only during the carrier’s vacation periods.
4- Take proactive steps by reaching out directly to your local Post Office. I’ve personally pursued this avenue three times within the past year and experienced immediate resolutions. Often, Post Office staff will contact the carrier directly while you’re on the phone to address any issues promptly.
These strategies are just a few of the methods I have used to address the ongoing USPS delivery challenges, let me know in the comments what you’re doing to hold USPS accountable.
